It's been awhile, my friends! Let's catch up. Hmmm, let's see. Where did we leave off last? Ah, yes.
I did a dumb thing and quit my really awesome job in New Orleans. I'll be super honest, it was my favorite job I've had as a pharmacy technician, thus far. I moved to New York City because if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere? Wrong. I beg to differ. If you're happy where you are, you should stay and not try to make things more complicated.
Anyway, I moved to NYC, the Big Apple, if you will. I loved my neighborhood, Greenpoint, in good ole Brooklyn (BK, if you're tuning in from out that way, but I seriously doubt it). My job was alright. Not my favorite, but it paid very well. So you could say I was...fine? Fine enough to have a complete meltdown on the side of Manhattan Avenue while on the phone with my mom. I quit my NYC job the next day. Effective immediately. Sorry not sorry? No, I am sorry. That was inappropriate of me, but my mental health comes first. I'll spare everyone the gory details, but I made it back to Louisiana shortly afterwards.
While in NYC, I walked a few times with a group coined "City Girls Who Walk." I think it originated during the void of COVID and the rest is history. Pics or it didn't happen! Yeah, okay. We'll pause for a photo break.
She looks happy, huh? Would you believe me if I told you she wasn't happy? Probably not.
Look, my point here is not to diss on "City Girls Who Walk," okay?? I loved the concept and what they were doing for each other and the community. So, I brought a little of NYC to the Northshore in good ole Covington/Mandeville, Louisiana.
I've been going through...a lot, recently. Can you imagine? The identity crisis plot just continues to thicken. My partner has not been partner-ing. I'm a little lonely. How can I fix this? Ah, let's do a walking group!
New Orleans has one called "NOLA Girl Walks." I've met some really awesome people through that group, but driving the Causeway to meet them was becoming a bit of a challenge. I decided to just make my own walking girl group.
In comes "Northshore Girls That Walk!" Is she glamorous?? Eh, not really. She's pretty sweaty from all the walking she's doing. Is she looking for sponsors to get girlies excited about walking? YES! Will she help the community in some capacity? Also, YES!
It's been really hard the last few years to get together with my friends. Is walking the answer? I think it might be. In my loneliness (is killing me...I must confess I still believe....), I'm forming a solution to maybe some of my problems.
Are you looking for an all girls walking group? Check. Are you looking for accountability in your exercises? Check. Are you looking for girlies to yap with? Check. Do you want to be able to volunteer, or donate, for an organization in-need in our community? Check. Well, you've come to the right place! "Northshore Girls That Walk" is here for you!
Our first walk was supposed to be tomorrow, but I had to cancel it due to the weather. So, now our first walk is Sunday at 9:45am in Bogue Falaya Park. We are meeting under the gazebo. I'll be there bright and early. I don't have a sign...yet. (I'm working on it for the future, though!)
